Do your pets have allergies?

Its getting warmer and spring is coming!
While the increase in temperature and growth of flowers is great, some negatives come with spring. Just like some of us, dogs can also get allergies but they show in different ways.
First you have to figure out if your dog has allergies through their symptoms. Just like us, allergies for dogs are seasonal so the symptoms will show up during spring and summer. When dogs have allergies, they get itchy skin or ears, redness on skin or ears, and respiratory signs like coughing, sneezing, or running eyes. Usually these symptoms can be observed by how your dog reacts to them, if they are scratching their skin or face too much, or even biting. These could be signs of allergies and if they continue for too long it'd be a good idea to reach out to your vet.
Now that you know if your dog has allergies, you need to know what causes it. Spring brings many allergens (what causes allergies), including pollen, mold, dust, flea saliva, and some medications. Most of these things on their own don't cause problems, but the body will overreact to these allergens and hurt itself in the process.
Lastly, you've got to find ways to help your pets! Going to your vet to talk to them about it and find solutions is great. While we can't cure these allergies, we do carry items for allergy relief! We've got medicine from Herbsmith and anti-lick spray from NaturVet.
And the most important of all, make sure to support your pet through this and keep them happy!
