Has Your Pet Tried CBD?

There are a lot of products on the market to address all types of anxiety in pets from separation anxiety to anxiety of going new places.
A new and fast growing product gaining traction to address anxiety in dogs and cats is CBD, or Cannabidiol.
There is some discord against CBD, as weed and other products associated with it are still not 100% integrated into normal day society. Most of the debate is around THC, as THC is what causes the feelings of euphoria. However CBD is much different than THC. THC binds tightly with CB1 receptors in the brain, which causes the feeling of being ‘high’, but CBD cannot. Instead, CBD just alters the reaction to serotonin, turning the rush of the chemical from fear and apprehension into calm and relaxation. Giving CBD to your dog won’t make them loopy or ‘high’, as it physically cannot.
There are also some great benefits to taking CBD, for both pets and humans. CBD has anti-inflammatory and pain suppressing properties. It’s been found to help motor ability, seizures, joint pain, and digestive problems, although it is most commonly given to pets with anxiety.
CBD can be easily administered to your pet and is typically found in oil form in dropper bottles or infused chews. To administer the oil, simply add to your pet's food, or drop it in a bowl for them to lick up.
When using CBD to assist with a pet's anxiety, consider the timing of dosing your pet as it may take up to an hour before your pet begins feeling its effects. When dosed in the proper frequency and amount for your pet, the CBD should kick in before the anxiety hits or gets too bad, and your pet should stay calm and collected through normally high anxiety experiences. We also highly recommend integrating training methods specific to your pet's anxiety while using the CBD for longer-lasting effects.
