What Thanksgiving leftovers can your dog safely eat?

With Thanksgiving around the corner, Fido will be eyeing everyone’s leftovers.  Which foods can and can’t you share with your dog?


Did you know, Thanksgiving coincides with a rise of vet visits during that weekend?  Many people are not aware of the foods that are not safe for dogs!  One might think turkey bones are a great way to include your dog in festivities; but they actually are quite dangerous for their digestion.


Here's a list of safe and unsafe foods for your dog:

SAFE:

  • Sweet potatoes with (no added ingredients!)
  • Cooked potatoes (with no added butter, salt, sour cream, or pepper)
  • Apples
  • Turkey meat (no bones or skin!)
  • Pumpkin

UNSAFE:

  • Stuffing
  • Turkey bones or skin
  • Chocolate
  • Raisins or grapes
  • Ham
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Foods containing spices

Keep this list handy for this Thanksgiving!  Keep your dog safe by remembering what’s okay for him to eat.
