Why You Should Use Only All-Natural Cleaning Products in Your Home

Did you know that the majority of popular household cleaning products are toxic to your pets? Because our pets spend most of their time on or near the floor, they are breathing in and absorbing numerous toxins and other harmful chemicals through their skin and paw pads, leaving them at a particularly higher risk for cancer, anemia, liver and kidney damage, and breathing problems, to name a few.

All-natural household cleaning products provide a much safer alternative for your pets. So how do you know if a product really is all-natural? When purchasing household cleaning products, a great rule of thumb is to read the ingredient label. Keep in mind that even though the product label may read “natural” or “all-natural” the product may still contain natural chemicals that are harmful to your pets. Here’s a list of the most commonly found ingredients to avoid when purchasing cleaning products:
• Ammonia
• Bleach
• Phthalates
• Glycol Ethers
• Formaldehyde
• 1,4-dioxane
• Chlorine
• Phenols
• Perchloroethylene

Try to look for household cleaning products that are enzyme-free, plant-based, mineral-based, or vegetable-based, which commonly contain these ingredients:
• Baking Soda
• Apple Cider Vinegar
• White Vinegar
• Olive Oil
• Lemon
• Mineral Oil

Petwell Supply carries a variety of plant-based and vegetable-based household cleaners from Skout’s Honor, which are safe for floors, carpets, and even your pet’s bowls, toys, and litter box. Most of Skout’s Honor products use “BioKore,” which is their specially formulated vegetable-based detergent that absorbs and breaks down stains at an industrial level.
